Hobby Casting

In order to introduce an auxiliary air flow I have decided to drill a passageway at an acute angle to the exhaust in order to try not to disrupt the exhaust flow.

But I screwed up. I wanted 20 to 30 degrees & got about 70 to 80 degrees. This will have consequences as we shall see later.

This is what the flame looks like without auxiliary air. (Sorry about the picture but you get the drift.)

Now for the air. Note that the hairdryer is quite small & is quite far from the actual air delivery tube.

I'm now adding oil. The result is excellent. The flame is a very pale blue & I'm obviously getting a full burn. But there is bad news... the high angle of incidence of the auxiliary air has caused a lot of back pressure and the burn in the vapourisation chamber is no longer all it might be. I can't do anything about the angle but I can reduce the airflow.
